JACKSON, Miss. - The Blazers baseball team fell in their series finale at home against UT Dallas on Saturday afternoon by a 16-4 final score.
Will Swift got the start on the mound for the Blazers and kept the visitors off the board for two innings. In the bottom of the 2nd inning Belhaven would strike for a pair of runs on an RBI single from
Kyle McLaughlin and sacrifice fly from
Evan Moore.
The Comets would hit back in the top of the 3rd inning though scoring a pair before adding on two runs in the 4th inning. UT Dallas added four more runs in the 5th inning and then tacked on three runs in the 6th to take an 11-2 lead.
In the home half of the 6th inning Belhaven loaded the bases with no outs and were able to score twice trimming the Comets' lead back down to 11-4. However in the top of the 7th inning the visitors exploded for five runs and put the game away. In the game, four Blazers recorded multi-hit performances.
With the loss the Blazers fall to 16-11 overall and 11-7 in conference play. They will look to bounce back next weekend when they head to Longview, Texas to face LeTourneau University. First pitch of the first game set for 7 PM on April 16th.
