Blazers Drop Thursday Doubleheader at Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Belhaven baseball team fell in both ends of a doubleheader at University of the Ozarks on Thursday. The Blazers dropped the first game by a final score of 7-6 and the second game by a 7-2 final score.

GAME ONE

The Blazers would hold the hosts scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Ozarks struck for an extra insurance run and made it 7-5 in favor of the hosts. In the top of the seventh and final inning, the Blazers looked to rally and scratched across one run. The tying run though was stranded at third and the comeback bid come up short.

GAME TWO

In the second game of the doubleheader the hosts took a lead in the bottom of the second inning and added on a run in the third to lead 2-0 after three innings. Belhaven would scratch a run back in the top of the sixth inning but a big five run frame in the bottom of the seventh inning would put the Eagles up 7-1.

In the top of the ninth the Blazers pushed for a late rally but came up short and fell to Ozarks by a final score of 7-2.

Hunter White finished the second game 3-4 with an RBI and run scored. Trip Benson picked up an RBI triple in the game to go 1-4 and Adam Leonard delivered a pinch hit double in the ninth.
