MARSHALL, Texas - The Belhaven Men's Soccer team returned to action on the pitch with a road contest against American Southwest Conference foe East Texas Baptist University. The Tigers scored a pair of late goals for a 2-1 victory over the Blazers.
The Blazers got on the board first as freshman defender
Dustin Byers scored his first goal of the season in the eighth minute to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead. Both teams accounted for six shots apiece in the first half with four being on goal for the Blazers, while three shots were on goal for the Tigers. Sophomore goalkeeper
Max Rudolph saved all three shots by the Tigers.Â
The Tigers pair of goals came in the 73rd and 83rd minute as the Blazers could not find a late equalizer to seal the 2-1 victory for the Tigers.
Max Rudolph faced 13 overall shots with six on goal, while four shots were saved. The Blazers accounted for 13 overall shots with seven on goal.
The Blazers are now 1-2 overall and in ASC play and will have their home opener on Saturday, March 13 against the Louisiana College Wildcats. The match will also be Senior Night for the Blazers and is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
