JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven men's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Louisiana College on Saturday afternoon inside the Belhaven Bowl Stadium in American Southwest Conference play. With the win, Belhaven improves to 2-2 overall and in conference play.
The Blazers found the back of the net first in the match as
James Dempsey scored the goal from a cross from
Garrett Busby in the 16th minute.
Anthony Lazzari tacked on another goal for the Blazers just before the halftime break to give the Green and Gold the 2-0 advantage over the Wildcats. In the first half, Belhaven outshot the Wildcats 9-3
Brendan Koehn scored his first goal on the season in the 61st minute to extend the Blazers lead to 3-0. The Wildcats threatened to score late in the match but could not find the back of the net.
Anthony Lazzari added the final goal for the Blazers in the 89th minute to give the Green and Gold the 4-0 victory over the Wildcats. As a team, the Blazers outshot the Wildcats 20-5 in the match with 10 being on goal. Garret Busby,
Tristan White, and
Brady Jacobs assisted on three of the goals in the contest.
The Blazers will return to the field on Saturday, March 20 against the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets in Longview, Texas. The action is set to kickoff at 3:30 p.m.
