Blazers Fall at Home to LeTourneau

JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven volleyball team finished their ASC regular season schedule on Thursday falling to LeTourneau in a doubleheader inside Rugg Arena. Belhaven fell in straight sets in both matches to the Yellow Jackets.

Prior to the matches, the Blazers honored seniors Chelsea Creighton, Sydney McEachern and Megan Nobles who are finishing their Blazers' careers at the end of the season.

In the first match, LeTourneau jumped out to an early lead turning a strong performance in the first set into a 25-12 set win. The Blazers looked to fight back in the second set, taking the first points but a strong stretch from the visitors saw them jump in front, leading by as many as eight points in the set. Belhaven worked the deficit closer but LeTourneau held on to win the second set 25-20 before taking the match in the third and final set by a score of 25-17.

For the Blazers in the first match, Izabella Erickson notched a season-high nine kills to lead the team. Katie Beasley also finished with a season-high in kills ending with five in the first match. Grace Eidson finished with a team-high 11 assists and senior Sydney McEachern continued her ascension up the all-time digs leaderboard posting a team-high 18 in the match.

In the second match, the visitors were able to take heavy advantages in the first and seconds sets, winning both by 25-10 scorelines. Belhaven jumped out to an early advantage in the third and final set but a late run by LeTourneau iced it and helped the Yellow Jackets leave with the doubleheader victory.

Once again, Izabella Erickson led the Blazers in kills, finishing with eight. McEachern finished with a team high eight digs while Madison McGuire led the team with seven assists.

The Blazers will finish off their home schedule against Mississippi University for Women on April 1st. The first match of the doubleheader is set to begin at 5 PM.
