JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University Women's Soccer team drew a tie with East Texas Baptist University on Tuesday evening inside the Belhaven Bowl Stadium. It is the first tie of the season for the Blazers. With the draw, the Blazers move to 4-1-1 on the season.
Belhaven had opportunities to score early on the match but were unsuccessful as they went into the halftime break tied at 0-0. The Blazers and Tigers each had five shots in the first half. In the second half, the Blazers stayed on attack, but were unable to find the back of the net.The Tigers outshot Belhaven 7-4 in the second half, but after 90 minutes the score remained 0-0 and needed extra time. In the overtime periods, neither team could find the back of the net as the Blazers and Tigers finished the contest in a draw to make the final score 0-0.
Sybil Roberson led the Blazers with five shots with one being on goal, while
Kyla Shaw added four shots.
Pepper Ann Filbert and
Macy Mathers each had a shot on goal in the contest. Goalkeeper
Lauren Knorr played all 110 minutes in goal and recorded eight saves. As a team, the Blazers registered 11 shots in the match with five of them being on goal.Â
The Blazers will return to the field on Friday, March 26 against the UT Dallas Comets inside the Belhaven Bowl Stadium for the regular season finale. The action is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.Â
