PINEVILLE, La. - The Belhaven men's basketball team came up short against the Louisiana College Wildcats by a final score of 91-64 in American Southwest Conference play on Monday evening.
The Wildcats started the game going on a 11-0 run, but the Blazers fought back to narrow the lead to three points at the 16:02 mark in the first half. LC continued to shoot well from the floor, going on a 12-2 run to close out the first half to make the score 51-25.
The Blazers came out of the break going on a 8-3 run, but the Wildcats extended their lead to 38 points midway through the second half. In the final 6:40 of the game, the Blazers continued to fight to outscore the Wildcats 18-7 to bring the final score to 91-64, but the Wildcats secured the victory.
Three Blazers scored double-digit points in tonight's contest.
Luke Couch led the Blazers with 20 points and five rebounds.
Matthew McMillan shot 5-for-9 from the field and shot 50 percent from long range to give him 14 points in the contest.
Rance Champ finished the game with 10 points and added two steals. As a team, the Blazers shot 39.1 percent from the floor and had a 57.1 percentage from the charity stripe.
With the loss, Belhaven falls to 3-8 overall and 2-7 in conference play. The Blazers will look to rebound on Thursday, February 11 against UT Dallas in Richardson, Texas. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
