CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Belhaven Men's Soccer team opened up their 2021 American Southwest Conference schedule on the road on Friday taking on the University of the Ozarks. The Blazers fell to the hosts thanks to a late winner in what ended a 2-1 contest.
After a successful 2019 season that saw Belhaven land a spot in the ASC tournament, the Blazers will have to wait a bit longer to get back to their winning ways. The first half against Ozarks saw the hosts score the first goal of the game with less than 30 seconds to go before half time.
Belhaven pushed back in the second half generating more by way of the attack and their efforts paid off when
Dalton Morgan opened his 2021 account in the 76' of the match. The Blazers came just short of the draw on the road when Drew Mott scored the match winner in the 87', sealing the win for the Eagles.
Max Rudolph recorded nine saves in goal for the Blazers on Friday and Morgan, the goal scorer, registered all three of Belhaven's shots on target in the match.
Men's soccer returns to action on February 19 when they host East Texas Baptist University in the Blazers' conference home opener.
