LONGVIEW, Texas - The Belhaven University Women's Basketball came up short against LeTourneau University on Thursday evening in American Southwest Conference play. Belhaven drops to 6-3 on the year and 1-3 in conference play.

The Blazers got off to a slow start with LeTourneau gaining a 12-0 advantage midway through the first quarter. Belhaven cut the lead to just six points at 1:31 mark of the first quarter, but the Yellowjackets held on to take the 20-14 lead going into the second quarter. Belhaven narrowed the lead to two points early onion the second frame, but the Yellowjackets remained hot taking the 44-28 advantage into the halftime break. 

The Blazers outscored the Yellowjackets in the third quarter 22-17, but LETU still held onto the lead going into the final quarter of regulation. LeTourneau maintained control in the four quarter as they increased their lead to 21 points early on. LeTourneau remained strong to close out the game and take the 86-72 victory over the Blazers.

Offensively, the Blazers were led by Nyah Davis who scored 16 points and shot 75 percent from the charity stripe, while Shomaria Overton finished the night with 15 points. Kourtne Lee had 11 points and shot 57.1 percent from the field. Xhiir Burgess secured her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kirsten Beasley was one rebound shy of a double-double during the contest. 

The Blazers will return to action on Thursday, December 16 against Howard Payne University inside Rugg Arena. Tip-off is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
