RICHARDSON, Texas – The Belhaven University men's basketball team came up short against UT Dallas on the road in the American Southwest Conference opener. With the loss, the Blazers move to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play.  

The Comets took the 13-7 advantage in the opening minutes, but the Blazers responded to take the 15-13 lead with 11:32 remaining in the first half. The Comets never led again in the first half to give the Blazers the 28-27 lead going into the halftime break. 

The Blazers and Comets exchanged buckets early on, but UTD pulled away to grab a 10-point advantage with 14:22 remaining in regulation. The Comets biggest lead of the game came at the 3:50 mark of the second half. The Blazers were able to cut the lead to five points, but the Comets went on to earn the 68-61 victory over the Blazers. 

Offensively, Luke Couch led the Blazers with 17 points and shot 66 percent from the charity stripe. Matthew McMillan finished the game with 11 points and tied for the team high in assists with four. As a team, the Blazers concluded the game shooting 37 percent from the field and 61.1 percent from the free throw line. 

The Blazers will return to the court on Tuesday, November 16 against Mississippi University for Women Owls in Columbus, Miss. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
