JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University women's soccer team fell in a close contest to ASC foe East Texas Baptist University Tigers inside the Belhaven Bowl Stadium. With the loss, the Blazers fall to 7-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play.
It was a back and forth first half, until the tigers found the back of the net just before the halftime break in the 42nd minute to take the 1-0 advantage. Going into the halftime break the Blazers trailed 1-0.
In the second half, both teams played very physical right down to the final whistle. Belhaven had opportunities to score, but could not get the equalizer. The Tigers would go on to defeat the Blazers at home by a final score of 1-0.
Emily Easterling led the Blazers with four shots, while a Anna Crane and Alysia Terry added two shots apiece. Abby Goff, Sybil Roberson, and Lauren Samford each tallied a shot in the contest. Goalkeeper Julianne Wilson registered all 90 minutes in goal for the Blazers and had three saves. As a ream, the Blazers out shot the visitors 11-8 and registered three shots on goal.
Belhaven will return to the field on Thursday, October 14 against ASC foe Concordia Tornados in Austin, Texas. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m.
