JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Volleyball team was beaten by LeTourneau University on Saturday in four sets after winning the open set.
In the match, the Blazers came out firing and took an early 3-0 lead in the first set. Belhaven kept hold of their lead until partway through the set when the visitors took a 17-14 lead. Belhaven battled back and was able to take the back and forth battle 27-25 in the end.
After the first set the YellowJackets were able to flip the momentum and took a commanding second set win 25-15. LeTourneau continued to extend the advantage with a 25-17 win in the third set and were able to hold off a rally by the Blazers in the fourth set to take the ASC win.
On the day, the Blazers were led by
Emily Carroll who finished with a team high nine kills which was also tied for the second most in the match.
Callista Moore added eight kills and
Paige Broussard finished with six in the match.
Grace Laukhuf and
Grace Eidson both had strong days as setters posting 16 and 15 assists respectively.
Lilliana Marlowe led the Blazers with 15 total digs while
Emily Carroll and
Izabella Erickson finished with joint team high four blocks.
The Blazers will look to bounce back next Friday when they host Concordia University at 7 PM.
