JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Volleyball team fell in a tight matchup on Friday night against Concordia (TX) with the final score being three sets to one.
Belhaven opened up the match with a strong start and were able to taking a lead in what was a back and forth first set. Concordia was able to battle back but the Blazers staved off a late rally to take the set win 25-22.
The visitors rallied and won the second set 25-19 despite a late attempt by the Blazers to come from behind. Belhaven's efforts were not enough in the third set as they were beaten 25-18 and a late rally in the fourth and final set came up just short with Belhaven falling on the evening.
The Blazers were led by
Ellie Jones who finished with 10 kills on the night, the only Blazer in double digits.
Grace Laukhuf led Belhaven with 20 assists and was followed closely by
Grace Eidson who posted 15 assists.
Caitlin Torok and
Ellie Jones each posted three blocks in the match while
Lilliana Marlowe led the way with eight digs.
Belhaven returns to action on Monday, October 18th when they head to Marshall, Texas to face ETBU at 6 PM.
