JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Volleyball team fell on Friday night to the University of Texas at Dallas in three sets.
In the opening set, the Blazers jumped out to an early lead aided by some strong defensive work including blocks by
Ellie Jones and led by as many as six points in the set. The visitors rallied though and were able to pull away late to secure a 25-20 set win.
After the first set win, the Comets were able to jump out to quick leads in the second set and pulled away from the Blazers with a 25-14 set win. UT-Dallas capped off the night with a strong third set that they won 25-13 to seal the victory.
In the match the Blazers were led freshman
Ellie Jones with seven total kills, the third most by any individual in the match.
Emily Carroll led all competitors on the day with four aces while
Grace Eidson tallied a team-high 14 assists.
The Blazers will look to bounce back on Saturday as they host LeTourneau University at 1 PM in Rugg Arena.
