ALPINE, Texas – The Belhaven University volleyball team fell in straight sets to the Sul Ross State University Lobos in American Southwest Conference play.
The Blazers jump out to take an early 9-2 advantage over the lobos in the opening set. The Lobos stormed back to even the match at 20 a piece late in the first set. Belhaven could not hold off the Lobos offensive attack late to drop the opening set 25-23.
Belhaven led Sul Ross for the majority of the set until the score was leveled at 13 midway through the second set. The Blazers took the 21-20 advantage late in the set, but the Lobos scored five of the next six points to bring the score to 25-22 with Sul Ross holding the 2-0 advantage in the match. Sul Ross dominated the third and final set in the contest to defeat the Blazers in straight sets.
Ellie Jones and Caitlin Torok led the Blazers offensively with eight kills, while Izabella posted seven kills in the match. Grace Eidson totaled 18 assists and Lilliana Marlowe finished the afternoon with 15 digs.
The Green and Gold will return to action on Monday, October 25 against the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets in Longview, Texas. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
