ABILENE, Texas - The Belhaven University Women's Blazers Basketball team fell to the Hardin-Simmons University Cowgirls, 92-66, in a road contest on the hardwood on Saturday, February 8.
The Cowgirls got off to a hot start, holding the Blazers scoreless for the first two and a half minutes of the game en route to an 18-8 lead after the first quarter. The Blazers scored 14 in the second quarter, but trailed the Cowgirls, 52-22, going into the locker rooms at halftime. The Blazers came out in the third quarter and added 16 points to the score; however, still found themselves trailing, 70-38, at the end of the quarter. The fourth quarter saw the Blazers outscore the Cowgirls, 28-22, but the Cowgirls maintained their lead and secured the 92-66 victory.

Mariah Collins led the Blazers with 12 points, sophomore guard
Janae Collier added 11 points, while sophomore guard
Ashlyn Horne added ten points. Junior guard
Keke Lyles, sophomore guard
Essence Lambert, and junior forward
Destiny Johnson had seven points apiece, freshman guard
Madison Klein added five points, senior guard
Susanna Reese had four points, while junior forward
Sydney Martin added three points to round out the scoring for the Blazers.
Belhaven falls to 13-8 overall and 6-6 in American Southwest Conference play and will return to action as they host the UT-Dallas Comets on Thursday, February 13. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
