BELTON, Texas – The Belhaven University baseball team picked up two wins against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru by a final score of 8-5 and 7-0 in American Southwest Conference play. With the win, the Blazers improve to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Game 1
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Blazers got things started in the top of the first inning when Hunter white led off the game with a single to get the leadoff runner on board. Lucido would then ground into a fielder's choice, but Walters would advance him to second base off of a sacrifice bunt. 
Justin Milam drew a walk to give the Blazers two base runners. 
Trip Benson would single to right field to give the Blazers the early 1-0 lead. 
Reed Bolton would step up to the plate to reach on a fielding error by the third baseman to plate the second run of the contest. 
AJ Bratton's RBI single to right field scored Benson to end the top of the first inning with the Blazers having the 3-0 lead early on. In the bottom half of the inning, the Cru scored two runs to cut the lead to one after one complete.
Logan Walters hit a solo shot to left field to give the Blazers the 4-2 advantage heading into the bottom of the third, but The Cru would even the score to 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth. In the top of the fifth, the Green and Gold would take the lead off of an RBI–single from 
Logan Walters, but UMHB tied the ballgame up at 5-5 in the bottom half of the inning. This game was supposed to be a 7-inning contest, but the scored remained 5-5 to force extra innings. Belhaven scored three in the top of the eighth to earn the 805 victory over the Cru of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Hunter White led the Blazers from the plate going 4-for-5 with a run scored and one RBI, while 
Trip Benson had a .750 batting average in the game scoring two runs and had a RBI. 
Logan Walters hit a homer in the game and platted two runs going 2-for-3 at the plate.

AJ Bratton, 
Caleb Whittle each earned a hit in the contest for the Blazers. 
Hunter Sanford earned the start on the mound for the Blazers and pitched 4.2 innings to get the no-decision. 
Justin Milam made his first appearance of the season and captured the win on the mound for the Blazers.
Game 2
In the second game of the double header, the Blazers and Cru were in a pitcher's duel through five innings as the score remained 0-0 going into the sixth inning. 
Nick Lucido led the sixth inning off with a double to right center, before 
Justin Milam stepped up to the plate and hit a 2-run homer to left center field to give the Blazers the 2-0 lead. The Cru did not answer the Blazers in the bottom half of the inning to bring us to the seventh and final inning of the game. In the top of the seventh, Julyan hit a single through the right side to give Belhaven a runner on bard to begin the seventh. 
Hunter White was the next batter and drew a walk, while 
Nick Lucido singled through the right side to load the bases for 
Logan Walters. Walters was hit-by-pitch to earn the RBI as the Blazers scored to make the score 3-0 as the bases remained loaded for 
Justin Milam. 
Justin Milam hit a Grand Slam to give the Blazers a 7-0 shut out over the Cru.
Justin Milam led the Blazers at the plate going 3-for-4 with six RBI and scored two runs in the contest. 
Logan Walters had the other RBI for the Green and Gold off of a HBP, while 
Nick Lucido had two hits in the game. 
Hunter White, 
Caleb Whittle, and 
Julyan Urena each recorded a hit in the game as the Blazers had eight hits in the contest. 
Brett Sanchez earned the shutout on the mound for the Belhaven as he pitched seven inning on four hits and five strikeouts.
The Blazers return to the action tomorrow, February 29
th for the final game of the three game series with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
