JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Baseball team split Saturday's double header against Fontbonne University helping them to a series win in their first home series of the season. The series win also is the first under new head coach,
Kyle Palmer.
Game One
In the first game of the day, the Blazers fell to Fontbonne 7-4 in a seven-inning game. The visitors got out to an early lead in the third inning after loading the bases. Fontbonne would tack on a fourth before the Blazers answered with a solo home run from
Justin Milam in the bottom half of the frame.
Fontbonne would add three more runs in the top of the fifth inning, extending their lead to 7-1. Belhaven would push across a pair of runs in the fifth inning and another in the sixth but would fall in the scheduled seven inning contest.
Austin Howland got the start for the Blazers and took the loss throwing 4 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on six hits.
CT Dodd threw 1 2/3 innings in relief allowing just two hits and recording three strikeouts.

Nick Lucido and
Reed Bolton all recorded multi-hit games and
Justin Milam had a solo home run.
Game Two
Belhaven would bounce back in the second game of the day, picking up an 11-1 win over Fontbonne, walking away with the series win. The visitors were able to score in the top half of the first inning but Belhaven would strike back in the bottom of the second inning when
Logan Walters hit a three-run double with two outs.
The Blazers would add to their advantage in the fourth inning with
Logan Walters doubling in another run and
Justin Milam hitting a two-run home run, his second of the series. In the sixth inning, Walters delivered his third RBI double of the game and a following a pair of RBI hits later in the inning, the Blazers led the game 10-1 going into the seventh.
Noah Holmes would pinch hit for Milam with bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh and deliver a sacrifice fly to center field giving the Blazers an 11-1 lead and ending the game by run rule.
Brett Sanchez got the start for Belhaven and threw all seven innings giving up just one run on five hits. Sanchez recorded seven strikeouts on the afternoon.
Logan Walters led the way for Belhaven at the plate going 3-3 with a trio of doubles while racking up five RBIs.
Justin Milam went 1-4 with a two-run home run, his second long ball of the year.
The Blazers will return to the field this weekend when they host Concordia University for the first ASC series of the season.
