PINEVILLE, La. - The Belhaven Women's Basketball team finished a season sweep of Louisiana College on Saturday with a 94-78 road win.
The Blazers offense started the game strong taking an early 24-5 lead on the hosts just seven minutes into the first quarter. Belhaven would hold onto their sizable lead, up 29-10 at the end of the first period. Throughout the second quarter, the Blazers maintained a double digit lead entering half time leading 46-31 at the break.Â
Belhaven entered the second half and were able to extend their lead through strong shooting, leading by 34 points with 1:32 left in the quarter. The teams would enter the fourth quarter with Belhaven up 80-48. The Blazers 34-point third quarter, their highest single quarter scoring total of the season.Â
The Blazers led 92-62 with 4:39 play and held off a late push from the Wildcats to finish with the 94-78 victory.
Keke Lyles led the Blazers with 24 points on the afternoon shooting 8-16 from the field and 6-9 from three.
Madison Klein finished with 18 points, tying her career-high set in the previous game against Louisiana College.
Destiny Johnson ended the game with a double-double, scoring 11 points and tallying 13 rebounds.Â
With the win, the Blazers move to 12-7 on the year and 5-5 in American Southwest Conference play. They will look to build on their back to back wins when they visit McMurry University on Thursday, February 6th at 5:30 PM.Â
