JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Basketball team fell at home Saturday to East Texas Baptist University by a 79-61 final.
The Blazers were able to jump out to an early lead behind hot shooting from
Mariah Collins. After trading baskets with the Tigers, the Blazers took a 20-16 lead to end the first quarter. The visitors would take the lead after some back and forth, up 38-35 going into the half. In the second half, ETBU would extend their lead before pulling away late in the game.
Belhaven was led by
Mariah Collins who finished with 20 points on 7-13 shooting.
Keke Lyles finished the contest with 15 points, three rebounds and three steals while
Sydney Martin racked up a team high 13 rebounds.
As a team, the Blazers shot 32.8% from the field and 16.7% from behind the three point line. Belhaven forced 21 turnovers and went 16-24 from the free throw line. They will look to bounce back Wednesday, January 29th when they host Louisiana College. The game is set for 5:30 PM.
