JACKSON, Miss. - The Blazers finished their busy weekend of action on Saturday with a pair of matches in Rugg Arena. The Blazers did not drop a set on the day while earning two wins in their matches against Philander Smith College and the Mississippi University for Women
In the first match against Philander Smith College, the Blazers won 25-21, 25-7, and 25-16.
Sydney McEachern led Belhaven in digs and aces with ten and four respectively while also adding five assists.
Faith Stone had the most kills in the match with ten, while
Izabella Erickson and
Callista Moore had six and five respectively.
Evelyn Parker led the team in blocks with five while
Chelsea Creighton and
Grace Eidson each had one. Eidson also had nine assists and five digs during the match.
Madison McGuire had the most assists for the Blazers with 15 while
Megan Nobles accounted for three digs during the match.
The Blazers concluded their day with a match against the Mississippi University for Women Owls and won 25-8, 25-14, and 25-22.
Vivien Marquez led the way for the Blazers with ten kills with
Faith Stone adding nine and
Callista Moore contributing six kills, four digs, and one assist during the match. Once again
Evelyn Parker had the most blocks with three and
Chelsea Creighton added two blocks.
Madison McGuire led in assists with 21 while
Grace Eidson contributed 14 assists and three aces during the match.
Sydney McEachern again led the Blazers in digs with 11 and aces with four and
Megan Nobles also added ten digs and two aces throughout the match.
The Blazers improve to 4-5 on the season and will return to action on Friday, September 13, as they host the LeTorneau University YellowJackets to open American Southwest Conference play this season. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m., start at Rugg Arena.
