Blazers Split Pair of Home Matches

JACKSON, Miss. - The Blazers played a pair of home matches on Friday as they continued a busy weekend of action. Belhaven split the matches defeating Central Baptist College in the first match before falling to the University of Dallas later that evening.

Against Central Baptist, Belhaven was led by Vivien Marquez who posted 11 kills in the match. Evelyn Parker and Chelsea Creighton both followed Marquez with seven kills each. Grace Laukhuf led Belhaven with 13 assists in the contest while Sydney McEachern topped the team with nine digs.

In the first set, which finished 25-18, Belhaven never trailed, jumping out to an early lead and holding on through the remainder of the set. In the second set, which the Blazers won 25-15, the Mustangs led early and Belhaven trailed up until the scoreline 11-10 before going on a six point run that propelled them to a 15-11 lead. The Blazers closed out the second set and then got off to a hot start in the third and final set which finished 25-9 in favor of the Blazers.

Belhaven finished the day taking on the University of Dallas Crusaders and fell to a score of three sets to one. Dallas took the first set 25-15 before the Blazers leveled the match up in a thrilling 27-25 second set. Despite the big second set victory, the University of Dallas was able to take the final two sets, 25-17 and 25-13, to win the match.
