COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Belhaven women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 shutout win over Mississippi University for Women on Thursday afternoon to give the Green and Gold their fourth shutout of the season.
With the win, the Blazers move to 5-2 heading into the final non-conference match on Saturday before ASC play.
After a scoreless first half,
Pepper Ann Filbert found the back of the net in the 67
th minute to put the Blazers on the board. With only eight minutes left in the match,
Sybil Roberson tallied her second goal of the season to bring the score to 2-0. The Blazers' defense held strong for the entire match to seal the 2-0 victory over the Owls.
Pepper Ann Filbert and
Sybil Roberson led the Green and Goldby posting a goal and two shots-on-goal.
Ashley Langham also had two shots-on-goal and assisted
Sybil Roberson's goal.
Peyton Papenburg added two shots, while
Kaitlyn Summerlin and
Laela Evans tallied a shot in the contest. Goalkeeper
Georgia Jordan saved three shots in the match.
The Blazers will return to the field on Saturday, September 21 against Berry College inside Belhaven Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
