JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University volleyball team fell in straight sets to the University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.
With the loss, the Blazers move to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The Green and Gold struggled to find momentum in the first set, as the Comets went on to take the set by a final of 25-5.
The Blazers took a 4-0 lead in the second set, but UTD fired back to even the score up at 9. The Comets led for the remainder of the second set, but the Blazers did not back down from the challenge. Belhaven would go on the fall in the close second set by a final of 25-21.
The Blazers had an early 4-3 lead in the third set, but the Comets overcame the deficit and went on to win the set 25-17 and the match 3-0.
Callista Moore led the Blazers' offense with seven kills, while
Chelsea Creighton registered six kills. Additionally,
Vivien Marquez posted five kills and led the team with a .364 attacking percentage.
Grace Eidson and
Grace Laukhuf had eight assists a piece.
Belhaven will return to the court on Friday, September 20 against Louisiana College in Pineville, La. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
