BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Belhaven University women's soccer team falls to Birmingham-Southern by a final score of 1-0 in non-conference play on Thursday afternoon.
The Panthers scored the lone goal of the match in the 32
nd minute when Abby Kay Choate found the back of the net to take the 1-0 advantage. The score remained the same to go into the halftime break.
The Blazers had opportunities to score in the second half, but came up short and fell by a final score of 1-0.
The Green and Gold out shot BSC 16-10 in the contest.
Emily Malcom led the Blazers with five shots, while
Ashley Langham finished the afternoon with four shots with two being on-goal.
Pepper Ann Filbert tallied three shots-on-goal and
Peyton Papenburg registered two shots in the match.
Sybil Roberson and
Kaitlyn Summerlin each added a shot during the contest. Goalkeeper
Georgia Jordan posted five saves and played the entire match.
The Blazers will return to the field on Saturday, September 14
th against Covenant College inside the Belhaven Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m.
