ATLANTA, Ga. - The Belhaven Blazers continued their season on Saturday in the second day of the 2019 Emory Classic hosted by Emory University. The Blazers faced off against Oglethorpe University in their early game, while the second game was against the eighth ranked Johnson & Wales University.
Belhaven fell in the first match against Oglethorpe University, 3 sets to 1. Oglethorpe earned victories in the first two sets winning, 25-22 and 27-25, while the Blazers took the third set 29-27, and the fourth and final set ending 25-19 in favor of Oglethorpe to seal their 3-1 win.  Sophomore 
Callista Moore led the Blazers with 13 kills while also adding two aces and one block. Sophomore 
Kristin Fogan led the team in service aces with three, while freshman 
Elaina Smith added two aces during the match. Junior 
Sydney McEachern topped the team with 20 digs and added four assists, while junior 
Megan Nobles was second on the team with 13 digs. Sophomore 
Grace Eidson was the team leader in assists with 15, while sophomore 
Grace Laukhuf was second with 13 assists and added seven digs for the Blazers.
In their second match of the day, the Blazers fell to eighth ranked Johnson & Wales University, 3-0. Mirroring the first game, 
Callista Moore once again led the Blazers with 13 kills, while adding 3 digs and one service ace. 
Sydney McEachern led the Blazers in digs with ten while adding one assist. 
Grace Eidson and 
Grace Laukhuf were the top two assist leaders for the Blazers with eight and six respectively.
The Blazers fall to 1-3 on the season after dropping the matches on Saturday and return to action later this week on Thursday, September 5, playing host to Huntingdon College in Rugg Arena with the match set to start at 3:30 pm.
