JACKSON, Miss - The Belhaven University softball team fell to the University of Mary Hardin Baylor Cru on Friday afternoon by a final score of 3-0 in game one of the three game series.
 
The Cru struck first in the top half of the first inning, after a double from Emily Bounds scoring Allie Dalle to give the Cru the quick 1-0 lead. 
 
UMHB then added another run in the top of the third inning, pushing their lead to 2-0 after three complete innings.
 
In the fourth inning, Allie Dalle hit an RBI-double to right field to score Hannah Wolfe from third base. The Cru extended their lead to 3-0 over the Blazers.
 
The Blazers could not find the offensive spark that they needed in this game, as the Cru went on to defeat the Blazers in game one by a final score of 3-0.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
 
Marlee Blackwell Carley Ingle, Marissa Rice, Brister Curry, and Danielle Darmohray each tallied one hit on the afternoon.
 
Bailey Root earned the start in the circle for the Green and Gold. She tossed an complete game and gave up three runs and struck out one batter.
 
Belhaven had a total of five hits in the contest as a team.
 
UP NEXT
 
Belhaven will return to the Jim McLeod Field tomorrow for a doubleheader matchup between the Blazers and the Cru. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. with game two expected to begin around 1:00 p.m. Senior Day festivities will be held at 10:30 a.m. before the 11:00 a.m. game.
