THE RUNDOWN
TYLER, Texas – The Belhaven University softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games on Friday afternoon against the University of Texas at Tyler. The Blazers were defeated by a final score of 8-0 in both games of the doubleheader.
The Patriots scored four runs in the first inning to take an early 4-0 lead. UTT added a run in the second to take the 5-0 advantage over the Blazers.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Patriots scored three runs on three hits to extend their lead to 8-0. The score remained the same for the remainder of the contest.
The Blazers struggled to get things going in game one, as UT-Tyler took game one by a final score of 8-0.
In game two, UTT struck first after a two-run double to left center field to make the score 2-0 after one full inning.
Kassie Shipley held the Patriots in check for the next three innings, as she only gave up one hit from the second inning to the fourth inning.
The Patriots plated two additional runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to bring the score to 4-0.
UT- Tyler's offense continued to shine as they scored four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 8-0.
The Blazers dropped game two of the doubleheader by a final score of 8-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
In game one, the Blazers did not record a hit during the contest.
Kassie Shipley took the loss in the circle for the Blazers in game one of the doubleheader.
In game two,
Bailey Root and
Danielle Darmohray were the only two Blazers to record a hit during the contest.
Kassie Shipley started both games for the Blazers in the circle. She took the loss in the circle for the Blazers in game two, as she tossed 5.0 innings and striking out one batter in the game.

The Blazers will remain in Tyler, Texas for the final game of the series tomorrow March 30. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
