TYLER, Texas – The Belhaven University softball team slipped in the final game of the series against the University of Texas at Tyler by a final score of 6-0 in non-conference action.
Bailey Root got the nod from Head Coach
Kevin Griffin to start in the circle for the Blazers in the final game of the series.
Through three innings of play it looked to be a pitcher's duel, as neither team could plate a run.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, UTT got things started off with an RBI double to make the score 1-0.
The Patriots scored four runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend their lead to 5-0.
UT-Tyler tacked on another run in the bottom of the sixth inning to bring the score to 6-0 heading into the final inning.
The Blazers could not get anything going in the top of the seventh inning and fell to the Patriots by a final score of 6-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Bailey Root,
Allie Gordon and
Brianna Dollar led the Green and Gold with a hit during the contest.
Bailey Root got the start in the circle for the Blazers and tossed 4.2 innings and struck out three batters. Root took the loss in today's game.
Jordan Self came on in relief of Root and threw 1.1 innings and gave up two hits.
The Blazers finished the afternoon with no runs on four hits and one error.
UP NEXT
The Blazers will return home to face off in a doubleheader against McMurry University on Friday April 5 at Jim McLeod Field. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
