JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday, winning 7-6 over No. 18 Rhodes College and falling 6-2 to Maryville College.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One

- In the bottom of the first inning, Justin Milam hit a two run home run to put Belhaven ahead 2-0 to begin the contest. In the bottom of the second inning, Reed Bolton scored on an grounded ball to short to extend Belhaven's lead to 3-0. 

- Rhodes tied the game with three runs in the top of the fifth inning, before Belhaven once again put up two runs in the bottom half of fifth after a single from Justin Milam and ground out from Tucker Calhoun that pushed across Nick Lucido and Evan Moore. Belhaven led 5-3

- Rhodes eventually took the lead with a run in the sixth and two runs in the ninth inning to go up 6-5.

- In the bottom of the ninth inning, Tucker Calhoun crossed the plate to the tie the game up at 6-6, forcing extra innings. 

- Justin Milam scored the winning run after a walk off single to center field in the bottom half of the eleventh inning to give Belhaven the 7-6 win, improving the Blazers to 2-0 on the season. 

Game Two

- Justin Milam reached on an error by the right fielder, allowing Evan Moore to score to give Belhaven a 1-0 lead. 

- In the third inning, a single and a double by Maryville scored three runs to push the Scots lead to 3-1. 

- Belhaven got one run back in the bottom half of the seventh inning, after Justin Milam singled to short, scoring Tucker Calhoun to cut the Scots lead to 3-2. 

- Maryville extended its lead to 6-2 in the final three innings to close out the game and win by a final score of 6-2.
