TYLER, Texas – The Belhaven University women's basketball team was defeated 68-57 by the University of Texas at Tyler Patriots on Thursday afternoon in non-conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter – The Blazers struggled from the field, but the Patriots jumped out to a commanding 19-5 lead in the opening quarter of action.
India Sims and
AaLiyaha Thornton were the only two Blazers to make a shot in the first period of play.
Second Quarter – The Blazers and the Patriots went back and forth to begin the second quarter until
AaLiyaha Thornton drilled a shot from three-point range to cut the lead to 11 points with 1:52 remaining in the first half. UT-Tyler made two shot before intermission to bring the score to 32-19.
Third Quarter – The Green and Gold came out the break on fire from the field, as BU cut the lead to eight points midway through the third quarter. The Patriots then went on a 7-0 run to bring the score to 44-29 at the 2:27 mark of the third quarter. UTT held on the 48-34 lead going into the final quarter of play.
Fourth Quarter – In the first four minutes of the final frame, UT-Tyler extended their lead to 15 points to give the Patriots the 57-42 advantage. The Blazers caught an offensive spark in the last six minutes of the game, as the Green and Gold narrowed the lead to six points with 54 seconds remaining in the game. UT-Tyler continued to make shots, as the Blazers would ultimately fall to the Patriots by a final score of 68-57.
