JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team fell 99-95 in their season opener against crosstown rival Millsaps College.
At the half, the Blazers trailed 46-39 and were down by 13 points with 3:12 remaining in the game. Belhaven would outscore the Majors 16-7 in the final three minutes of the game but come up just short.
On the night, the Blazers were led by
Luke Couch who scored 23 points going 5-6 from three and 8-9 from the free throw line.
Brosnan Cooks scored 18 for the Blazers going 8-17 from the field and picking up seven rebounds.
Josh Roberts scored 15 points for the Blazers.
The Belhaven bench contributed 44 points and the Blazers scored 36 points in the paint. On the night, the Blazers shot 42.5% (31-73) from the field and shot 37.5% (7-32) from three.
Belhaven returns to action Saturday, November 23rd when they travel to Tennessee to face Sewanee: The University of the South. Tip is set for 2 PM.
