JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven men's soccer team were unable to break the tie in double overtime to the Sul Ross State University Lobos on Saturday afternoon inside the Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
Brendan Koehn wastes no time as he scored a goal in the 2
nd minute of the match to give the Blazers the early 1-0 advantage over the Lobos. Koehn's goal was assisted by
Nathan Ratzlaff.
In the 32
nd minute, the Lobos answered with a goal of their own to tie the match at 1-1. Both teams entered the halftime break knotted up at 1-1.
The Blazers had opportunities to score in the second half, but neither team could find the back of the net. Belhaven forced overtime to try to decide the winner of the contest. After two overtime periods, the Blazers and Lobos finished the match in a 1-1 draw.
Brendan Koehn led the Green and Gold with five shots and the lone goal, while
Max Maguire finished the contest with four shots with two being on-goal.
Ian Requilman tallied two shots and
Adam Roberson had a shot in the match.
Goalkeeper
Max Rudolph played the entire 110 minutes of the match in goal and posted five saves.
The Blazers will return to the field on Thursday, October 10 against East Texas Baptist University Tigers in Marshall, Texas. Kickoff is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
