MARSHALL, Texas - The Belhaven Blazers were on the road to face off against the East Texas Baptist Tigers on the pitch on Thursday, October 10, and came away with a 2-1 victory for their second win in American Southwest Conference play this season.
The first goal for the Blazers came midway through the first half as freshman defender
Tristan White found the back of the net with an assist from senior defender
Nathan Ratzlaff. The goal was the first of the season for White and gave the Blazers an early 1-0 lead which they maintained going into the locker room at halftime.
The second goal for the Blazers came in the 80th minute as sophomore midfielder
Andres Garcia netted his second goal of the season to increase the Blazers lead to 2-0, while the only goal for the Tigers came in the 90th minute by Silas Sangano.
The Blazers blitzed the Tigers with 13 shots throughout the match and eight of those being on goal, while freshman goalkeeper
Max Rudolph made five saves during the match while facing 15 shots with six of those being on goal.
The Blazers improve to 8-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play and will return to action with another road contest on Saturday, October 12, as they face off against the LeTorneau YellowJackets.
