LONGVIEW, Texas - The Belhaven Blazers took to the road to face off against the LeTorneau YellowJackets and the Blazers earned a 3-2 come-from-behind victory on the pitch.
The Blazers got on the board first early in the first half as freshman defender
Jake Estes found the back of the net with an assist from junior defender
John Avery Slay in the ninth minute of the match giving the Blazers a 1-0 lead. However, the lead was short-lived as the YellowJackets scored the next two goals to take the lead with the first coming in the 13th minute as Russell Gray squeezed the ball by Blazers freshman goalkeeper
Max Rudolph with assists from Angel Rivera and Luis De La Torre and the second goal coming in the 28th minute as Dustin Gray scored with an assist from Russell Gray to give the YellowJackets a 2-1 lead.
The Blazers knotted up the match as senior
Max Maguire found the back of the net with an assist from senior defender
Nathan Ratzlaff making the score 2-2 which held up as both teams went into the locker rooms at halftime.
The Blazes broke up the the tie early in the second half as senior defender
Tyler White beat the YellowJackets goalkeeper with an assist from Ratzlaff in the 48th minute giving the Blazers a 3-2 lead. Despite seven shots throughout the second half by the YellowJackets, an equalizer would not be found sealing the 3-2 victory for the Blazers.
The Blazers had nine shots throughout the match with five on goal, while Rudolph made seven saves facing 16 shots with nine on goal throughout the match.
The Blazers improve to 9-2-1 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play and will return to action this Thursday as the play host to the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor Cru at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
