CLARKSVILLE, AR. – The Belhaven University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in overtime to the University of the Ozarks Eagles in a pivotal American Southwest Conference matchup. With the loss, the Blazers fall to 9-8-1 overall and 4-6 in conference play. The Blazers are awaiting for a few conference match-ups to be finalized to see where they stand in the rankings going into the final match on the regular season next week.
The Blazers' defense held strong for the 90 minutes of regulation, but the Ozarks scored the golden goal 43 seconds into overtime to give the Eagles an 1-0 victory over the Green and Gold.
Ashley Langham and
Peyton Papenburg led the Blazers with four shots apiece with two being on-goal.
Pepper Ann Filbert added two shots in the contest, while
Kendall Cockayne and
Emily Malcom registered a shot. As a team, Belhaven outshot the Ozarks 12-3.
The Blazers will travel to Pineville, La. to take on the Louisiana College Wildcats on November 1
st for the final match of the regular season. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
