Jackson, Miss. - The Belhaven Blazers hosted the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats on Saturday, October 26, for Senior Day and came away with a win in a five set match.
The teams traded set wins for the first four sets with Belhaven winning the first and third sets, 25-23 and 25-12, while Louisiana College won the second and fourth sets, 25-23 and 27-25, with the Blazers coming out on top in the fifth set winning 15-12.
Freshman
Elaina Smith led the Blazers in kills with 11, while sophomore
Callista Moore finished second with eight plus was third on the team in digs with eight, while sophomore
Chelsea Creighton was third in kills with six. Junior
Sydney McEachern led the team in digs with 28, was third in assists with three, and was tied for second in aces with junior
Megan Nobles with two each.Â
Sophomore
Grace Eidson led the team in both assits and aces with 17 and four respectively, while also finishing second in digs with ten. Sophomore
Grace Laukhuf finished second in assists with 14, while senior
Evelyn Parker, freshman Vivian Marquez, and
Elaina Smith all led the team with four blocks apiece.
With the win the Blazers improved to 8-19 overall, and 3-11 in American Southwest play and will return to action on the road against the East Texas Baptist University Tigers on October 29, and is set to start at 6 p.m.
