Jackson, Miss. - The Belhaven Blazers women's soccer team came up just short against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 2-0, on the pitch at Belhaven Bowl Stadium on Thursday, October 17.
After a scoreless first half, the Cru got their first goal in the 65th minute as Maria Rico was assisted by Grace Greenly to beat Blazers sophomore goalkeeper
Georgia Jordan while Greenly also assisted Emily Blaettner to get the Cru's second goal of the match in the 71st minute to seal the 2-0 victory.
The Blazers took eight shots throughout the match with three being on goal, while Jordan made four saves while facing 19 shots with six being on goal.
The Blazers fall to 7-7-1 overall and 2-5-0 in American Southwest play and will return to action as they host Concordia University Tornadoes on Saturday, October 19. The match will be Senior Day for the Blazers as it is the last regular season home game and the action will kickoff at 11 a.m.
