JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven women's basketball team fell to the University of Texas at Dallas Comets by a score of 74-36 on Thursday afternoon inside Rugg Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter – The Blazers got on the board first after
Peyton Papenburg scored a jumper to give Belhaven the quick 2-0 lead. Over the next few minutes of play, the Comets went on a 17-7 run to give UTD the 17-9 advantage. For the remaining two minutes of the first quarter, the Green and Gold held the Comets scoreless, but UTD had the 17-13 lead to end the first frame.
Second Quarter – In the second quarter, the Blazers struggled from the floor as the Comets outshot the Blazers 19-3 to bring the score to 36-16 at the halftime break.
Third Quarter – Coming out of the break, the Comets went on an 11-2 run to take the 48-18 advantage over the Blazers. UTD continued to dominate the third quarter and Belhaven fell behind by a score of 58-30 to close out the third period.
Fourth Quarter –
Shanda Pugh scored four of the Blazers six points in the final frame, while
Destiny Johnson earned the other two points for the green and Gold. The Comets went on to defeat the Blazers by a final score of 74-36.
