MARSHALL, Texas– The Belhaven University women's basketball team fell to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers, 79-54, on Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter – The Blazers and Tigers were in a shootout in the opening five minutes of the first quarter, until
Erika Smith drained a three-pointer to make the score 10-10. Over the next five minutes of play, ETBU jumped out to a commanding 24-12 advantage at the end of the first frame.
Second Quarter– The Tigers remained in control of the game, as ETBU went on an 11-1 run to make the score 34-13 at the 3:56 mark. The Blazers held the Tigers scoreless for the rest of the half to bring the score to 34-21 at the halftime break.
Third Quarter– The Blazers and Tigers exchanged buckets to begin the third quarter. The Green and Gold could not catch up to ETBU as the Tigers ended the third quarter leading by 23 points. Headed into the final frame, the Tigers had the 58-35 lead.
Fourth Quarter– In the first three minutes of the fourth quarter, the Blazers cut the lead to 17, but ETBU held on the lead and ultimately defeated the Green and Gold by a final score 79-54.
