Blazers Stumble Thursday Night Against Ozarks

JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University men's basketball stumbled to the University of the Ozarks Thursday night by a final score of 90-65 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half - It took nearly a whole three minutes for either team to put up any points on the scoreboard as the University of the Ozarks broke a scoreless game with a Bryson Johnson jumper to go up 2-0 with 17:21 on the clock. 

The next two minutes of the game set the tone for the remainder of the contest as the Eagles went on a 9-0 run before the Blazers were able to score any points of its own. 

Belhaven eventually worked back into the game and utilized four points with a span of 20 seconds from Tommy McCoy to tie the game up at 23-23 with just over five minutes left in the half. The Ozarks worked a 7-0 run to distance themselves 30-23, eventually closing out the half with a 41-33 lead over Belhaven.

Second Half - The Ozarks opened up the second half right where they left off in the first half, drilling a three-pointer on its first possession and going on another 7-0 run to increase its lead to fifteen points, 48-33. 

Overall, the second half did not fare well for Belhaven as the Ozarks seemed to be in control of the game from the start. The Ozarks went on the defeat Belhaven by a final of 90-65 inside of Rugg Arena in Conference play.
