JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Volleyball team fought tooth and nail with American Southwest Conference opponent, LeTourneau Yellowjackets, Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell in five sets, 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Â Belhaven jumped out to a commanding 16-11 lead in set one before locking down the set with a 25-19 victory.
- Both Belhaven and LeTourneau exchanged leads multiple times in the third set. With the score 20-19, the Yellowjackets began to distance themselves in the final points of the set.
- LETU responded back after falling in set one, winning set two 25-20.
- The Yellowjackets dominated the third set, for the most part, winning 25-14, and taking a 2-1 match lead headed into the fourth set.
- Belhaven gained the momentum back after the previous two sets, cruising to a 25-19 set victory to force a fifth and final set.
-Â Like most of the game leading up to the final set, Belhaven and LeTourneau battled back and forth in the final game. Tied at 11-11, LeTourneau rattled off two straight points to gain a 13-11 lead.
-Â Belhaven bounced back with a kill from Carissa Pauda to pull back within one, 13-12.
-Â The Yellowjackets were able to close out the final few points, winning 15-13, and claiming the match overall against the Blazers, 3-2

KEY STATISTICS
- Belhaven notched 43 kills collectively as a team.
- For the sixth straight game, Lauren Whiting led the Blazers with a team-high 11 kills to go along with 10 digs
- Jackie Fredericks and Carissa Paid had nine kills and eight kills, respectively.Â
- Megan Luker had a team-high 22 assists, followed behind Grace Eidson with 14 assists.
- Sydney McEachern added a team-high 27 digs to along with four assists and one service ace.
