JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven volleyball team fell to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers Friday afternoon by a final score of 3-0 to begin American Southwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Â Belhaven looked to be in control from the very beginning, jumping out to a quick 11-7 lead in set one after a Jackie Fredericks kill.
- ETBU closed the gap with three straight points to pull within an 11-10 score. Belhaven quickly responded with three points of their own to regain a 14-10 advantage.
- Once again down 14-10, the Tigers struck back with six straight points to take the 16-14 lead. ETBU went on to claim set one by a final of 25-16.
- Both teams in set two exchanged lead changed for the first couple of points. With the score tied at 10-10, ETBU gained some momentum, quickly distancing themselves from the Blazers 18-10.Â
- The Blazers fell in set two 25-17, to fall to 0-2 in the match.
-Â Looking to lock down a victory in the third set, Belhaven started off on positive note with a 1-0 lead. Despite the quick advantage, Belhaven fell behind over the next few points and could not regain the lead, falling 25-16 in the final set of the match.

KEY STATISTICS
- Belhaven notched 17 kills together as a team.
- Lauren Whiting registered a team-high six kills along with her four digs and three blocks.
- Ryan Hardin added four kills and Jackie Fredericks had three kills.Â
- Fredericks also collected two blocks along with Evelyn Parker.Â
- Meghan Luker had a team-high seven assists, followed behind Grace Eidson with five, and Sydney McEachern with two.Â
- McEachern also has a team-high twelve digs followed behind Lauren Whiting with four digs.
- Megan Nobles led Belhaven with four services aces and had three digs.
