PINEVILLE, La. - The Belhaven University softball team faltered in its final regular season series opener of the year at Louisiana College by a score of 5-2 on Friday evening in American Southwest Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Lauren Feagin got her second start of the year inside the circle for the Blazers.

- In the top of the second, Brianna Dollar got things started off with an RBI double off of the left field wall.

- Through the first two innings offensively for Belhaven, the Blazers registered two hits, but stranded three baserunners.

- Louisiana College got started in bottom of the second by loading up the bases with nobody out.

- The Wildcats tabbed their first run in the inning off of an error to take a 1-0 lead.

- Moments later, LC jumped ahead 2-0 following a sacrifice fly RBI.

- Louisiana College carried their momentum in the inning on to add two more runs for a comfortable 4-0 advantage.

- In the top half of the third, BU got two additional baserunners on with Meg Garton and Makayla Reed drawing walks.

- Garton crossed the plate after an infield single from Marlee Blackwell to cut the deficit down to 4-1.

- Kaitlyn Blubaugh started the top of the fifth with an infield single.

- An RBI infield single from Marlee Blackwell scored Blubaugh from third to reduce the lead down to two runs at 4-2.

- The Wildcats had runners on first and second with nobody out, but the Blazers got out of the inning after completing a triple play.

- In the bottom of the sixth, Louisiana College added a run of insurance off of an RBI single to extend its lead to 5-2.

- However, the Blazers would go down in order in the seventh to end the contest.
