JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University softball team fell short twice on Tuesday afternoon at Jim McLeod Field to UT Dallas in American Southwest Conference play.
Belhaven has now lost seven consecutive games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game one
- Both teams struggled to get base runners on in the first two innings as each team combined for just three hits.
-Â In the top of the third, UT Dallas had runners on first and second with nobody out. Later on in the inning, the Comets connected on a two-RBI triple to right field to take a 2-0 advantage.
- Brianna Dollar got things started for BU in the bottom of the third with a leadoff single.
- Brittany Chetta walked, and then Meg Garton reached on an error to load the bases.
- However, the Blazers came up empty and stranded all three base runners.
- The Comets added one more run in the top of the fourth off of a bases loaded walk for a 3-0 lead.
- An RBI double slapped down the right field line increased the Comets' lead out to 4-0 in the top of the fifth.
- With runners on the corners, UT Dallas converted on another RBI single up the middle to push the lead up to 5-0.
- The lead jumped out to 7-0 in the top half of the seventh off of a two-RBI double to right center.
- Belhaven stacked the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, but once again, were unable to produce any runs.

Game two
- BU got ahead early in the bottom of the first off of an RBI single from Cassidy Blount which scored Kaitlyn Blubaugh.
- Jordan Herring was in complete control early on in the circle, and held UT Dallas hitless through the first three innings of action.
- The Blazers had an opportunity to add some more runs in the bottom of the third, but stranded two base runners.
- UTD finally picked up its first hit of the contest in the top of the fourth with two outs.
- Belhaven stacked up the bases in the bottom of the fourth, but failed to score and stranded all three runners.
- The Comets eventually evened up the game at 1-1 off of a sacrifice fly RBI in the top of the fifth.
- Meg Garton started the bottom of the fifth off on a lead off single.
- Moments later, Cassidy Blount smashed a two-run home run to right field to place the Blazers ahead by two runs at 3-1.
- Belhaven remained in control and had two outs in the top of the sixth, but UT Dallas caught fire offensively and would score four runs on five hits to take a 5-3 lead.
- The Comets would score an additional three more runs in the seventh to make it an 8-3 game.

- Jordan Self started game one in the circle and pitched 4.1 innings of work.
- Lauren Feagin tossed the final 2.2 innings of action.
