HOW IT HAPPENED
- Justin Acevedo tallied the first hit of the game when he singled to left field in the top of the first inning. In the inning, he advanced to third base but could not score.

- The Lobos got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning to take a quick 1-0 advantage.

- In the bottom of the third inning, Sul Ross scored five runs in the inning to bring the score to 6-0.

- Will Costinett kept the Blazers in the game when he belted a home run to left center field to put Belhaven on the board.

- The Lobos got the run back in the bottom of the fourth inning after a double to right center to score Moss to make the score 7-1.

- The score remained the same for the next two innings.

- The top of the seventh started when Will Costinett was HBP. After a Reed Bolton single to left, Costinett advanced to second base with one out. The next batter of the inning was Colton Fontana and he reached base off of an error by the first baseman to load the bases. Trip Benson came to the plate with the bases loaded and roped a double to right center to score Bolton and Costinett to cut the deficit to 7-3.

- After a pitching change by the Lobos, Trip Benson advanced to third on a passed ball. He then scored on another passed ball to make the score 7-4 to end the top of the seventh.

- The Lobos added another run in the bottom of the seventh to take an 8-4 advantage.

- Kreg Garner blasted a two-run homer to cut the lead to 8-6 going into the bottom of the eighth inning.

- The Lobos added four runs in the eighth to extend their lead to 12-6.

- The Green and Gold tried to rally in the top of the ninth, but could not plate any runs to make the final score 12-6 with Sul Ross taking game one of the series.

KEY STATISTICS
- Trip Benson went 3-for-4 on the evening, with two RBI and one run.

- Reed Bolton also went 3-for-4 with one run scored.

- Will Costinett had a great evening going 1-for-3 with a home run and scored two runs.

- Kreg Garner finished 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, and one run scored.

- As a team, the Blazers posted 11 hits in the contest.

UP NEXT
The Green and Gold will return to the diamond on Saturday, as they wrap up the series with a doubleheader against Sul Ross State University. First pitch will be at 12:00 p.m.
