MACON, Ga. - The Belhaven University softball team collected a doubleheader sweep on Monday evening at Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga.
The Blazers increase their winning streak to 11 as they improve to 13-2 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game one
- The Blazers got off to a sluggish start offensively, and were held scoreless through the first three innings of the contest.
- The Wolves added the first run of the game in the bottom half of the third off of a double that was hit off the left field wall.
- Belhaven tried to get a rally started in the top of the fourth after Makayla Reed drew a leadoff walk. However, the Blazers were unable to get anything going as they had just one hit through the first four innings of play.
- While Jordan Herring and the Belhaven defense kept the Wolves' offense out of sync, the Blazers' bats continued to stay cold through the first five innings of play.
- Meg Garton started things off in the top of the sixth with a leadoff walk.
- Reed's sacrifice bunt advanced Garton to second with just one out.
- Â Once again, the Blazers came up empty and stranded a baserunner.
- In the seventh, the Green and Gold were down to their final three outs.
- BU had two baserunners on in Toni Wilson who reached on a fielder's choice and Cassidy Comstock who singled up the middle with one out.
- Brittany Chetta was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
- Kaitlyn Blubaugh connected on a sacrifice fly out to score Mariah Sosa from third to tie the game at 1-1.
- Garton's clutch single up the middle allowed Comstock to cross the plate for a 2-1 lead.
- Wesleyan had two runners on first and third in the bottom of the seventh, but the Blazers prevailed and got out of the jam.

- Game two
- In game two, Belhaven took care of business right from the start.Â
- A triple to the right field wall from Cassidy Blount scored Meg Garton for a 1-0 lead in the first.
- Belhaven added another run off of an error to increase the lead up to 2-0.
- The Blazers did a good job of continuing to get hits and find ways to get on base as they extended their lead out to 4-0.
- The Green and Gold defense played flawlessly in the field and turned a 6-4-3 double play in the bottom of the third, followed by a diving catch in centerfield from Whitney Jemison.
- The Blazers scored four runs in the fourth to take a big lead.
- Meg Garton's single to center scored Brianna Dollar for a 5-0 advantage in the fourth.
- Later on in the inning, Kaitlyn Blubaugh scored, followed by an RBI single from Cassidy Blount as the Blazers held a commanding 7-0 lead.
- Marlee Blackwell slapped a ball out to left center to score Blount from first for an 8-0 lead.
- Wesleyan added one run in the fifth to avoid a mercy rule.
- In the sixth, Whitney Jemison delivered an RBI single to right center which scored Reed from second for a 9-1 lead.

KEY STATISTICS
- Game one
- Brittany Chetta, Cassidy Comstock, Marlee Blackwell, and Meg Garton each tallied a hit apiece for the Blazers.
- Garton and Blubaugh each recorded an RBI as well.
- Jordan Herring pitched her sixth complete game of the season and stayed a perfect 6-0 inside the circle for the year.
- Herring struck out seven batters in the victory.

- Jordan Self tossed a complete game as she also improves to 6-0 on the season.
- Cassidy Blount finished the night 3-4 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored.
- Marlee Blackwell notched two hits and brought in two runs.
- Brianna Dollar and Meg Garton both recorded two hits and scored two runs with an RBI apiece.
- Belhaven tallied 12 hits in total for the win.
