MARSHALL, Texas. - The Belhaven University men's basketball team fell 97-78 on Thursday night to the East Texas Baptist Tigers in American Southwest Conference play. The loss was the Blazers second of the season to the Tigers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a fast paced offensive contest in the early stages of the matchup between the Blazers and ETBU. The Blazers led 16-13 midway through the first half.
- The Blazers looked to be in control for the entire first half as they were about to extend their lead to eight points on multiple occasions. With just 1:18 remaining in half number one, Belhaven continued to find its stride as the Blazers led 40-32.
- ETBU would nail a three pointer, cutting the lead to 40-35, but a made free throw, by John Works, in the final minute of the first half would give Belhaven the 41-35 advantage heading into the locker room. Â
- The Blazers were led by Jonathan Durham in the first half, as Durham was able to pace Belhaven's offense with 15 total points and finished 5-8 from behind the arc.
- ETBU began the second half on an 12-0 run to regain the lead, 47-41.
- Despite being down by twenty-two points with 5:10 remaining in the contest, Belhaven would go on a 10-2 run to close the gap to a fourteen point deficit, 90-76.
- ETBU would go on to win the contest by a final score of 97-78.
