Blazers Fall to LeTourneau in ASC East play

LONGVIEW, Texas – The Belhaven men's basketball team fell, 118-81, to the ASC East–leading LeTourneau University YellowJackets Saturday evening on the road in American Southwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The YellowJackets jumped out to an early 7-0 lead over the Blazers until Jonathan Durham made a basket from behind the arc to make the score 7-3. Durham also made the Blazers first eight points of the game.

- The Blazers struggled from the field early on, as the YellowJackets would push the score to 29-12 with 9:35 remaining in the first half.

- For the next nine minutes of play, LETU would outscore the Blazers 24-15 to go into halftime, with the YellowJackets leading 53-27.

- Before the first media timeout of the second half and after a couple turnovers and miss shots, LETU extended their lead to 77-38.

- For the next three minutes of play, the Blazers would find a spark going on an 11-2 run, but the YellowJackets still led 79-49.

- The Blazers would end up falling to the LeTourneau by a score of 118-81.

KEY STATISTICS
- Despite the loss, the Green and Gold had five players who scored double-digit figures in the contest.

- Terik Richardson led the Blazers offensively with 16 points, four rebounds, and one steal.

- John Works finished the night with 14 points, with a rebound and a steal. Works was a perfect 10-10 from behind the charity stripe.

- Justin Jones chipped in 12 points and grabbed five boards.

- Jonathan Durham collected 11 points, two rebounds, and one assist in the game.

- Rounding out the double-digit scoring is Brent Webber tallying 10 points, three rebounds, and one assist.

- Joshua Roberts led the Blazers in the rebounding column with six and tied for a team-high in the assist column with three.

- Kyle Patterson Sr. finished the day with five points, three rebounds, and one steal.

- Rick Hodum tabbed four points and tied for a team-high of three assists shared with Roberts.

- Isiah Brown rounded out the scoring for the Green and Gold finishing with three points. He also picked up two steals, rebounds, and assists.

- Belhaven shot 86.7 percent from the charity stripe, making 26 of the 30 attempted shots.

- Belhaven received 40 points from the bench tonight.
