JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University women's basketball team faltered by a score of 72-44 to the University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play. Belhaven junior Lauren Brooks recorded a career-high double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A 7-0 run from UT Dallas pushed them ahead 15-6 midway through the first quarter of play.
- The Blazers cut the lead down to five after scoring on two consecutive possessions.
- Belhaven committed six turnovers in the first quarter, and trailed 20-10 after the period.
- In the second quarter, the Comets continued to shoot well from beyond the arc. UT Dallas shot over 70 percent from long range for a majority of the first half.
- A 13-2 run propelled UT Dallas to a double digit lead at 27-12.
- Turnovers and fouls called against the Green and Gold put the Blazers' offense at a halt.
- UT Dallas led 38-20 at the break.
- The Blazers still were unable to solve the Comets' defensive presence early on in the second half, as the lead grew for UT Dallas at 50-25.
- Lauren Brooks was the lone spotlight for Belhaven's offense on Saturday. Brooks produced a double double of 18 points and 10 rebounds at the midway point of the third quarter.
